Eve Walstrum
Artistic Director, Eve Walstrum danced for twelve years with the internationally acclaimed Netherlands Dance Theatre under the direction of Jiri Kylian. She also performed with Eliot Feld's American Ballet Company in New York and the Batsheva Dance Company in Israel. Since her arrival in Honolulu in 1986, she has choreographed for several local dance companies including Ballet Hawaii, Dances We Dance, the University of Hawaii, and the Tau Dance Theater. She is currently on the faculty of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

 

Suzanne Rowland
Managing Director, Suzanne Lai Rowland has a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Hawaii. She studied with Reiko Oda as a child and continued her studies in Hawaii and New York City. Before founding Queen Emma Ballet with Eve Walstrum, Suzanne choreographed and performed statewide, was the recipient of State Artists-in-the-Schools grants and several choregraphic awards by the Hawaii State Dance Council. She is married to Lawrence Rowland and they have two adult children. She considers herself so fortunate be able to combine her love of ballet with the joys of working with children and young adults.

 

John Rampage
Adult Jazz instructor John Rampage is well known to audiences as director of Diamond Head Theater. He has directed and/or choreographed many musicals including Into the Woods, La Cage aux Folles, Anything Goes, Hello Dolly! and most recently The Producers. John is a 32-time Po’okela Award winner. He has headed award-winning productions at LCC and Manoa Valley Theater also. John is the recipient of the Hawaii State Theater Council 2006 Pierre Bowman Award.

 

Minou Lallemand
Minou Lallemand graduated from the NY High School of the Performing Arts and trained at the Joffrey Ballet School. She has danced solo and principal roles with ballet companies such as Ballet Arizona, Princeton Ballet, and Sacramento Ballet. She toured nationally with The Phantom of the Opera and was a cast member of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. She has taught at the Virginia School for the Arts and Iolani School. Currently, she is teaching at various schools in Hawaii. Also a choreographer, she has created works for Ballet Arizona, New Choreographer’s on Point Workshop, and Queen Emma Ballet.

Anna Motteler
Adult ballet instructor, Anna began her dance training locally and trained professionally at The Alabama School of Fine Arts, with Dame Sonia Arova and Thor Sutowski, as an apprentice with the State of Alabama Ballet. She also trained at Chicago City Ballet with Maria Tallchief and North Carolina School of the Arts. She has performed in numerous local productions with Ballet Hawaii, Honolulu Dance Theater, Hawaii Ballet Theater, Diamond Head Theater, and Tau Dance Theater.

Denise Chong
Adult beginning ballet instructor, has danced in Maui, Honolulu and New York City. She's stage managed and been the dance captain for The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Cinderella, and Flower Drum Song at Diamond Head Theatre and was the dance captain for Meet Me in St. Louis. She has danced recently with the Onium Ballet Project. Currently, she is the Associate Director of Development at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Jose' Silva
Contemporary instructor, Jose' Silva was born in Guadalajara, Mexico but grew up in Orange County, California where he first received his dance training. At the age of seventeen, he moved to Los Angeles to continue his studies. His path took him to Japan where he taught and performed for two years. He has also worked in film, television and the stage in the U.S. He was cast as lead dancer in the Broadway production of "The Lion King" and as lead dancer and Dance Captain for the touring company as well. Touring gave him the opportunity to teach in studios around the country and eventually brought him to Hawaii and Mid-Pacific Institute where he has been teaching contemporary dance for the past two years. "I have been so blessed my entire life, but to now have the opportunity to pass the "torch" to young dancers here in Hawaii is a dream come true. Truly the Circle of Life."

Shannon Yamamoto
A 2011 graduate of the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Theater and Dance, Shannon has been in love with dance since the age of three. Her recent performances locally include roles in Mid-Pacific School of the Arts A Chorus Line, Hawaii Opera Theater’s South Pacific and The King and I and numerous performances with the UHM Dance Department. She teaches jazz, contemporary and adult beginning ballet for Queen Emma Ballet.
